Other Game-Making Platforms

Using Other Platforms

You can make your playable game entry to the Challenge using any creation tool you want. There are a few things you should keep in mind, though:

  • Regardless of the tool(s) you use to make it, your game project must be playable by our judges on a Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android device; or in a web browser; without the need to purchase a subscription or any special hardware or software
  • Many game-making tools include music, art and software libraries with content that creators can use and distribute in their own games. Using material like this is fine for your Challenge entry, as long as you can demonstrate that the tool provider has given you the right to do so. We will have to verify this if your game is selected as a potential winner, so it's best if you confirm things up front. We can't comment on every game creation tool, but a good place to start is checking the license agreement or terms of use for the tool you want to use. You can also contact the tool provider and ask them directly.
  • As with all entries, your entry needs to follow all of the Submission Guidelines, which you can find in the Official Rules.

The platforms listed below are just a few tools you can use when making your game for the 'Open Platform' tracks. All the tools listed would let you make a game that meets the Submission Guidelines.
